It's A Family Thing

As I mentioned last week, allergies hit
Cora hard. Actually, I think they started with me.

I was down for the count two weekends ago, so bad I was convinced
it was a cold. I’m on allergy meds 365 days a year, and the
only thing I don’t take – Zyrtec – will actually
put me to sleep for a good 18 hours at a stretch. So when allergies
hit, there’s not much I can do.

But as I said, I at first thought it was a cold, and simply
rejoiced that no one else got it. Then Cora went down and I assumed
she had the same “cold”, but gave her some allergy
medicine just in case.

She was bubbly and bouncing twelve hours later.

I swear, we never had allergies before
moving to Texas, and now they hit with a vengeance. And I’m
sick of being on medication all the time, and I hate the thought of
giving my three-year-old medicine as well. But I haven’t come
up with any other options.

A few months ago Maddie complained of a headache for over a week;
I’d give her medicine – even bring some to the school
for her – and it would only help temporarily. I began to
worry about inherited migraines, and eventually took her to the
doctor.

The verdict? Allergies.

Yep, she started taking allergy medicine and the headaches were
gone within 48 hours. Maddie’s headaches started again this
week, and now there are three family members on meds. Good times.

All that’s left is for Brian to join us. Any aches or pains,
babe? What about stuffy nose, or generally run-down feeling?
