Blast From the Past

Working hard on my Christmas surfing –er – shopping right now, and I have to tell you, it’s not so fun.  I know I already stood on this soapbox, so I’ll content myself with simply saying that the Internet can really take all the fun out of shopping.  I’ve got several girlfriends who have had children this year and browsing in cyberspace just ain’t as thrilling as strolling through a darling little boutique, fingering teeny tiny clothes and fun little toys.  At least, most places aren’t very fun.  In my search for cool, cute, one-of-a-kind mom and baby gifts for my girlfriends that don’t look like they came from Toys R Us or Gapkids (not that there’s anything wrong with it!), I stumbled across a great site.

My Retro Baby certainly lives up to its name, and I had a really great time “browsing” the site.  They’ve got really interesting and cute items, all with a vintage feel but a modern sensibility (read: you get the vintage cute and the modern safe!) that make this one of my new favorite websites.  I don’t want to say too much about their stock since I may be giving away some Christmas presents here, but I’ll tell you that my favorites include their vintage burp cloths bedecked in 1950’s milkman ads, the cutest little bibs for your favorite cowboy or astronaut, and some fun vinyl growth charts in cowgirls and farm equipment themes.  Their clothing is limited and irreverent  but darn funny; I love the “junk in the trunk” onesie.

If you love Nick at Nite type stuff, this is the site for you.  And your gift will definitely stand out from amongst all the plain onesies and khaki pants.
