Class Reunion

We had our Lamaze class reunion last night.  How weird and wonderful it was to see all the women post-pregnancy!  It was like meeting someone you already knew for the first time, if that makes sense.  We sat in a circle of our nine couples, and each woman told her birth story.  What a room full of miracles.

Out of nine women, five of us had c-sections (the national average is 26% of all births) and mine was the only one that was scheduled.  Four women went past their due date, and two families had their child in the NICU for at least two weeks, one of whom was an emergency delivery two months early.  One of the women in the group, Rebecca, was describing her labor that eventually led to a c-section and said quietly, “I think I was very brave and I am proud of myself.”  I was so proud of her for saying this, and acknowledging the amazing thing she had done.  The evening made me realize how relatively easy and uncomplicated Madeleine’s arrival was, and how blessed we all were.

On a lighter note, the best tip of the evening was scored off of Mollie and Shannon – 1800DIAPERS.  The website sells most major brands of wipes and diapers at below most store prices, though about even with or a bit higher than membership club prices.  And shipping’s free!
