Christmas Carols, By Maddie and Cora

Both girls are walking around belting out
Christmas carols at the top of their lungs, and certainly
don’t let anything so petty as not understanding all the
words get in the way of their singing. Here recorded for posterity
are a few of my favorite malaproprisms – let’s just
call them fresh takes on classic songs.

Go Tell It On the Mountain-

“Go strollin’ on the mountain, over the hill and
everywhere!

Go strollin’ on the mountain, where Jesus Christ is
born.”

Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer –

“Then one froggy Christmas eve, Santa came to say . .
.”

Jingle Bells –

“Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way.

Oh what fun it it to ride, a horse’s oat to sway.”

Silent Night –

“Silent night, holy night, all is calm, all is bright.

Round yon virgin mother and child, holy infant so tender and mild.

Sweep a heavenly piece, sweep a heavenly piece.”

What do you think? Will the new versions take? Or shall we stick to
the originals?
