It's Good To Know She's Not THAT Big
Last night I lay snuggling with Cora in
her bed when she rolled towards me, her face troubled.
“Mommy,” she said, “I don’t want to go to
preschool any more.”
What?
“What?” I said. “I
thought you love preschool!”
“Well,” she considered, “I do like some parts of
it.”
“Tell me the good parts,” I suggested.
“Let’s see – I like my teachers, and all the
stuff we learn, and being line leader, and wearing big-kid school
clothes, and eating lunch out of my lunch box, and meeting so many
new friends, and having computer time, and going outside to play,
and practicing my alphabet.”
“That sounds like a lot, puppy,” I said gently.
“So what don’t you like about preschool?”
Cora laid her hand on my cheek and looked at me sadly. “I
just really miss you when I’m gone.”
Oh, my.
It’s good to know she’s still my baby.
