I Heart Our School
Remember the
fire-drill-that-wasn’t-a-drill last week? Remember Maddie not
wanting to go to school?
She came out of class with the biggest smile on her face at the end
of the day. She’d been named Student of the Week in her
classroom – and not for an academic achievement, but for
being brave during the fire “incident”. Maddie was so
proud her teacher had recognized how hard it had been for her, it
was better than ice cream.
And on the way home, Maddie told me that
the school counselor had stopped and checked in with Maddie to see
how she was doing as well. Last year Maddie’s worries had
been so bad she’d been driven to ask to talk to the counselor
about them, and the counselor, bless her heart, was following up
last week.
Blue ribbon exemplary, high test scores, yadda yadda yadda.
It’s the awesome people at our school who make the difference
to my kid. I’m crushing on our elementary school – can
you tell?
