Spring's Creeping In
The weather’s turned nicer here
– well, darn near perfect, if I’m being honest. A bit
chilly in the mornings, then hanging around in the 70s the rest of
the day, balmy and sunny and lightly breezy.
Sorry, New York.
The weather has given my girls itchy feet,
and our back screen door is getting a lot of use. Hanging out in
the back yard most of the afternoon is now simply the thing to do,
and I love to watch them run around, finding patches of purple
clover and tearing through them as they convince themselves
they’ll find a four-leaf clover in just one more second. They
dig in the mud, the stare intently at butterfly cocoons –
they’re out there and having a great time.
Last night after dinner we walked up to our neighborhood park and
frolicked for a while, coming home just in time for bed. The girls
were well-behaved and it’s hard to get cranky when
there’s golden sunlight and a light breeze. I stretched out
on a slide and soaked it in for a few minutes.
Sure, it’ll be 95 degrees outside before we know it. Sure,
I’ll turn irritable and wilty while the girls melt down at
every turn. But right now, it’s darn nice.
