Back Into Our Routine
I do believe the worst is over – but
I also believe that if I’ve learned one thing as a mom,
it’s to never say that the worst is over.
We’re back at school today (or at least planning on it when I
wake the girls up) and getting into our regular groove. We
gradually emerged into public again over the weekend, white-faced
and anemic from lack of sun and stimulation. Ok, perhaps
that’s a slight exaggeration, but there was something
distinctly animalistic about the avidity with which my girls ran
towards fresh air and public places.
I took the girls to the mall on Friday to
watch the ice skaters – safely away from kids in the
bleachers one story above the rink. On the whole they did pretty
well, though Maddie did have a spectacular meltdown when we went to
eat lunch at the food court, mostly because the outing was tiring
her so much after four days in the house.
Over the weekend, though, she gained back her strength, ice-skating
with gusto on Saturday and playing happily at church on Sunday. So
I’m hoping we’re all better and back in the routine
saddle again.
But check in tomorrow – you never know.
