Mommy's Throne
We seem to finally have the nursing thing under control. The blood blisters are subsiding, so nursing is no longer painful, and I actually find myself looking forward to quiet time with Madeleine (middle-of-the-night feedings not withstanding!). One of the things that’s made nursing time so much easier has been my awesome glider and ottoman.
When we put together Madeleine’s room, a comfortable chair was the one thing we decided to spend money on, and I’d do it all again in a heartbeat. I test-drove a lot of chairs, having been warned by my girlfriends that many gliders have arms too close together to comfortably accommodate a boppy, or arm rests too high to be of use. This combination glider and swivel chair (the version with the arms that are just right is called the Mandy) is my own little bit of heaven here on my sleep-deprived earth! I love that the ottoman rocks with me, I love that the chair swivels so I can always reach my snack or water bottle, and I love how comfy the chair is to sit in, while not being so plush and soft that I have a hard time standing up out of it post-c-section. Sitting in the dark at 3 a.m., rocking a contented Madeleine with my feet propped comfortably up, I’m thinking this Mommy thing’s not so bad after all. Now can we just get rid of the colic??
